OUR AC CORD DESIGNS...
Many of today's AC cords are constructed in such a fashion which easily conducts and radiates noise. Much of this noise is generated by our digital based equipment itself (or anything microprocessor based within the home) and travels backwards through its power cord and into the rest of your home and equipment. This 'noise' is part of the ever growing barrage of EMI and RF noise our high-end systems are invisibly bombarded with. Focus and detail, particularly micro-dynamics which provide much of the air around instruments, are lost in this unpredictable background noise. What we may perceive as edgy or grainy mids and highs are actually digital noise artifacts covering up the real music. The problem here is that our own AC power cords are not only radiating and acting as antennae for this noise (along with your other cables), but are also conducting it back and forth from one component to another, contaminating the entire system.

The Digital AC-X cord was engineered
to offer a very high level of noise isolation. Years ago, our AC power research uncovered
that digital based components, such as a CD player, computer, or any low level digital based equipment, all
suffer from the same problematic symptoms of high frequency noise generation
and susceptibility. The inherent high level of noise generated by today's
digital based equipment is difficult enough just to manage within the
design of each component. This noise is wideband in nature and can cause
a masking of low level detail, where the real life-like properties of music
reside. The noise easily travels up and down through the power cords,
contaminating all components within the system. This contamination can cause
grunge, edginess, and
low level hiss to music, or a grainy picture, or decreased black
levels, with video, all of which reduce the system's dynamic range and ability to convey subtle details.
While they can be effective at filtering noise from the homes AC wiring, typical line conditioners can only deal with the noise once it has already traveled down the components AC cord and into one of its outlets. At that point it's difficult to eliminate even a portion of the noise at all frequencies, so the best they can offer is a partial solution. At this point the system's components can still benefit from further isolation, hence this AC cord...
The Digital AC-X cord very effectively isolates and contains noise within the cord itself, preventing contamination throughout the system. This cords ability to absorb and contain noise also prevents gear from radiating and transferring its own self-generated noise, particularly in tight mounting locations such as video equipment racks, and helps to prevent many unforeseen interactions between various gear. It is also effective in increasing video resolution and contrast by attenuation of all forms of noise, which can cause today's sophisticated hardware and software algorithms and electronics to 'misfire', producing unpredictable visual artifacts. This is accomplished using a number of elements.
The insulation material surrounding each conductor contains a special compound that absorbs high frequency energy and dissipates it within the cord itself, so the cable itself acts as a sponge for noise, rather than allowing it to flow freely. Specially tuned networks are incorporated to work in conjunction with the capacitance and inductance of the fixed length of the cable, to act as a complete and smooth filtration system within the cord itself.
An aluminum shielding material surrounding all of the conductors makes sure nothing radiates before all is absorbed, and shields the cord from contamination by other outside sources without being reactive to the line frequency or the conductors themselves. Also, the conductors are positioned within the cable to prevent an easy flow of offending signals which other cords freely allow, further eliminating any possibility of system contamination. The Digital AC-X is perfectly tuned for optimum effectiveness which improves as noise frequencies increase, making it's design virtually timeless as equipment processing speeds increase.
The POWER AC+ cord has been around for many years now, and still continues to completely impress everyone who use it. Made with our huge 8 gauge (8.35 mm2) concentric alloy wire conductors designed specifically for amplifiers of any power, its raw current capabilities coupled with our Optimized Field Matrix (OFM) design allow an amplifier to draw unimpeded current from the source, typically your wall outlet. Amplifiers respond to the POWER AC+ quite noticeably with a more powerful bass definition and extreme low frequency weight. Since the amp is free to draw the power it needs without the AC cord being a limiting factor, the PowerAC+ also frees up the mids and highs from compression or a restricted sound, all results of this cord allowing the amp to reproduce audio to its best ability. Our OFM, or Optimized Field Matrix design deals with the tuning of the cord in terms of capacitance, inductance, style and amount of conductor twist, and many other factors, combined in relationship to the intended use of the cord. This cord was designed to allow a very FAST instantaneous current draw which both tube and solid state amps demand, while also allowing the low milliamp currents at higher frequencies to flow in proper proportion and balance, providing the necessary air and inner detail for excellent soundstaging to match the amazing depth added by extending the bass range. The cost of this cord is typically far below what it would cost to gain an equivalent improvement any other way.
The GPA 2 was designed with one thing in mind, to noticeably increase the performance of any piece in a system over a stock cord or other lower cost AC cord. While not as effective as its more expensive cousins above, at its price point this cord is a great upgrade. JPS wanted to make sure that those who tried this cord were properly introduced to what JPS Labs products are all about.
We designed the very flexible GPA 2 cable and wire from scratch to improve resolution of each component. Its very finely stranded large ultra pure 12 gauge (3.31 mm2) wire (basically a scaled down version of our big 8 gauge (8.35mm2) Power AC+ above) is insulated with high quality, low dielectric constant materials and includes our proprietary O.F.M. (Optimized Field Matrix) design for superb noise rejection and extended bass response. Its large conductors allow it to perform well with any sized amplifier while also greatly improving any low power component. 24 kt heavy gold plate hospital grade AC plug and copper IEC contacts are hand-soldered then machine-molded into the cable.
